Hello all

I've been sort of absent from the forums for a little over a month now. That's really not going to change much over the next few months since I am busy with class and don't have a lot of time for the computer when I get back to my room.

I've not even been to the site for a few weeks now but I'm sure we all have those moments. Plus the child is due to grace my wife and I with his/her presence in a few weeks and that has kept things busy. I've been busting my but in class and I am at the top of the class but it's a close second behind me. I have had time for the shop a few times since I've been in San Angelo. I made one pen and did a great job with a CA finish...until I was separating it from the bushings. I didn't turn the lathe back on and cut the bushings away like I should have so some wood came with some of the finish at the edges. Oh well one step closer to a good finish. The other times I have been working on a rocking horse for the baby. It's pretty far along but I have a few things left. Just waiting on a few special pieces of wood that a friend and a family member are sending me and it will be done.

Anyways, I'm still alive and well. Just busy. Take care and I'll try and stop by when I have time (and when the rocking horse is ready).

Keep up the hard work Ty, we'll be here when things get a little more relaxed for you. Good luck with the class.

Thanks guys.

Fred, no tools yet, the wife and I still need to purchase the shop, but I hope to interest him/her in all sorts of activities to prevent the lazy gene that comes from me.

Neil, I am working hard and doing well. The rocking horse is keeping me busy on weekends and keeping me more out of my realm than class but it keeps me from spending lots of money at bars in West Texas and is giving me the chance to learn more woodworking skills.

As for books....we don't really have any, it's all computer and "print out" (still from the computer) based. I am the top of my class but only by a few tenths of a percent. Funny thing is the guy who is in second is smarter...I just got lucky on a few tests by ignoring what was right versus what they wanted to see as the answer.
