I run into that with magic wands and have to be soooo careful, especially because they are 12". It's amazing what a difference it makes to have a brass tube in the middle of a piece to stabilize it.very nice! i've only done a few of these and always struggle with chatter in the middle. this is a beautiful piece
Thank you Kate, I do get chatter, I just work it very carefully when that happens. I'm using carbide as well, sharp tools of course are helpful. One of the things I've learned is to not crank down my tail stock too tightly, if you start to thin out your tail it can bow and cause a break.very nice! i've only done a few of these and always struggle with chatter in the middle. this is a beautiful piece
