OK, I'm new. I have looked all over this sight to find out what those cute little stars by member names mean.
The bad news is that I can't find anything that tells me.
The good news is that during my hunt I have seen stuff on this site that I would not have found for months!
Do I assume you have to talk a lot to get those little stars? Humor me and clue me in.

The stars are, indeed, a small form of recognition of one's movement toward achieving the rare status of being in the "Hot Air Club"!
 
Careful Lou, Freddie is a minister so mention of a hot air club .... [;)]

Welcome Freddie, and yes, there is a wealth of knowledge here at the IAP. If you haven't, check out the library located on the home page. Many generous turners have shared their knowledge to help the rest of us.
 
You will find multitudes of helpful info and people here on this site. I thought I could turn a pen before I found this place, but in comparison I was just turning lumber round compared to some artists on this site. since I have found the IAP my pens have improved greatly. Welcome aboard.

Thanks guys. I have already learned so much from just reading the stuff in the library and forums.
And...William..when I saw the term "hot air club" I thought of all the other sermons I've heard, not mine!![:)]
 
Welcome to IAP. Frankly, I had forgotten all about the stars, until you mentioned them. I remember when I first came to IAP and saw those stars. They seemed much more important then ..... than they are now. Don't confuse stars with accuracy or significance of the post. I might have a lot of stars by my name but most of the stuff I say is wrong.[;)]

One thing is for certain, and I hope you find this to be true .... at IAP, everybody has a seat at the table ... regardless of how many stars they have or don't have. [:)]

DCBluesman I have to ask you a question tho, if my wife says I am full of lots of hot air sometimes does that qualify me for more stars[?]

I don't think so, Bob. My ex- said I was full of a lot more than hot air and all I got was the shaft--she got the gold mine. [8D]
 
[:0][B)][:(!] Ouch DCBluesman sorry to hear that. I think maybe I will keep the wife and not worry about if I get more stars for the hot air. Maybe I should have said hope she keeps me[:)][:D]
