Stamp pen, first attempt

So, I watched the video on using stamps glued to a wooden base and decided to give it a try. I used to collect stamps as a kid so raided my collection, and followed the video instructions. I think I was too cautious with the glue at first, and didn't get it thick enough. So, I sanded it smooth and added a few thick layers. The end result looks okay, but is too thick. I think with my next attempt I will glue directly to the brass tube. Just not sure if I should paint the brass with something first.

Yes, I would recommend psi to g the tubes white. That will stop the brass from shining through the stamps or overpowering the colors in the stamps. Great first start!
