Morning all,

I have read many posts and the tutorials in the library - wondering if it is possible to stabilize a blank without a pressure pot. If so, any hints, tips, or tutorial advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

PJ

Well, you can "sorta" stabilize wood with many coats of superglue. Soak the blank in thin CA, let it sit for an hour. Turn down until the CA "gloss" is gone, repeat the CA saturation until you have turned the blank to the desired diameter. Be sure to start with a clean lathe bed and save the shavings to patch holes.

This AIN'T quick and it's not always pretty, but it can be done with excellent results.

Respectfully submitted.

Curtis Seebeck's Cactus Juice System does not use pressure. But, is does use vacuum. You can check it out at TurnTex Woodworks - MesquiteMan's Cactus Juice

Do a good turn daily!
