This may be a bit premature, since I'm only getting ready to try casting and stabilizing. But I just finished turning a stabilized, double-dyed (red/yellow) buckeye burl blank. It was a pleasure to turn, and looks spectacular. I can buy more, but it got me wondering whether dying during stabilizing is much of a challenge. And, does "double dying" just mean that you put a different color in Cactus Juice and pull a vacuum on the previously-stabilized piece? It might be fun to try taking some more pedestrian local wood and jazzing it up. Couldn't find any discussions on that here, but maybe I missed something. Russ

Someone did some of this a while back. I think it was Curtis but could be wrong as it was several years ago that I recall seeing the postings on the forum. Could have been Don (Its_Virgil) too. just can't recall.

A search may pull it up.

I would try finding the post and talking to them.

Thanks, Mike. That was PERFECT! And, I promise you, I did do some searching before deciding to bother anyone. I just today got the last piece I need to try making wood/resin blanks, which I've been hot to do. When I get my vacuum equipment, I HAVE to dry the double-dye stabilizing thing. I really appreciate your help - and the info on this site. Russ
