I'm getting ready to experiment with stabilizing using powder aniline dyes and Resinol 90C. Does anyone have any exeperince in this area that they could share? I assume the dyes should be water soluble. Please PM.

If you can oil/solvent dyes it would be better, that way you can mix it with the resin and do it all in one step.
The downside is that for each color you do you have to have a lot of resin to mix it with.

Using water based dye works fine but it takes a while to dry the wood before you can inpregnate the wood with resin.

Under presure you would use about 45ml of resin per blank to stabilize it.
The dye mixing ratio would be 16oz of water based dye per 5 gal of hot water.

Hope this help you, let me know if you need more info.

Thanks for the helpful info Constant, do you have a preferred or recommended dye manufacture?

From doing a quick search it seems the oil/solvent are pretty hard to come by in small qty's. The colors I would like to experiment with would consist of red, yellow, green, black, and possible variations such as Ruby red, pearl gray, turquoiuse blue, lapis blue, silver gray, etc.
