I drink a Cuban coffee called Naviera and have it shipped to me from Tampa and on visits to Tampa I always pick up a couple dozen packages.
Up until last week I made it in a Bunn drip coffee maker and its never quite as good as the Cuban coffee shops at home but still much better than most other coffees. Last week we bought a Keurig B70 single cup coffee maker.....Holy cow I'm now drinking twice as much coffee and enjoying it so much more, what a pleasant surprise.....
Just thought I'd let all the coffee drinker out there know if your looking for a great cup of coffee you just might want to look into a Keurig.
PS to use your own coffee you need to purchase a reusable MY K cup for $10 or you can use the coffee k cups that come in a variety of flavors, for a change we like Newman's Own extra bold.

I can't agree with you more Roy!! I purchased one about a month ago and like the Donut Shop collections.

However, I haven't had much luck with a good seal on the My K Cup addition. It seems to leak and I get some grounds in the cup. Maybe it was just a bad K Cup...

Fred, so far so good on the myk cup, I was told to be sure no grounds were on the rim of the basket.....

Looks like Roy is gonna be on a caffine high for a few days.

LOL, it reminds me of a work trip to Italy I made....

In the factory canteen they were serving seriously strong exspresso in those tiny little cup ( demitas? ) and I just wanted a regular coffee so tried to ask for just a mug of normal stuff.

He filled up a mug bigger than the IAP buckets with the same tar which kept me awake for a week!!!:biggrin:

consumer reports has done extensive testing on coffee makers. their results are always the same test after test shows that all coffee makers make good coffee. the differences lie in the coffee and most of all the water. don't take my word for it. check them out.

We got a Keurig last christmas.
A hot cup is so easy, I drink it all day long. Great little machine I agree...

I got my Keurig for father's day this year. My wife and I love it so much, she just suggested we get a mini to keep in our camper. Have not tried My k-cup yet -- it's still in the box. I'm still working through the sampler pack, and also like the Neuman Bold.

Thats going to be my birthday present to myself, a Keurig. I now use a percolatrer that is from the 50s, I like my coffee hot!! and those Mr Coffees don't make a hot cup of coffee. But have heard good things about the Keurigs

Roy, thanks for info. I too take my coffee seriously. I have used a Technivorm Moccamaster for the past several year and it still make absolutely the best coffee I can make except possibly using a French press. I know it will eventually need a replacement and the current cost of the Technivorm is about $300 so I have been looking for an alternative. I will certainly look closely at the Keurig B70.

Don't believe it. Any coffee maker that can produce water in the 195 to 205 degree range consistently and have a drip system (if a drip maker) which can deliver a uniform drip with the proper flow rate and doesn't have any foreign tastes introduced (plastic, etc) can produce good coffee. The problem is most makers suffer from at least one of these issues. It seems the temperature is the most common problem. Most makers simply don't get the water hot enough.

Perhaps the folks at Consumer Reports just don't have a very discerning palate when it comes to coffee.:)

Wendell thats one of the things that puts the Keurig ahead of most others, you set the temp and each cup is brewed excatly at that temp.... my chioce is 195 degrees.

I guess I take things to the extreme..I buy coffee beans green in 50 lb sacks from coffee bean direct.com (We like the Italian Espresso Blend) We then roast them 1 lb at a time to a little past the second crack stage(Dark Roast) in a Behmor 1600 coffee roaster. We filter the water in a Berkey Light water filtration system and then make the coffee in a Cusinart grind and brew coffee maker..In about a year we will be making our own coffee cream as we just bred our Jersey Heffer. We make our own sweetener also fom a plant called Stevia..I guess you could say we like to be independant

Speaking as one who knows...wait until you see how much cream that Jersey will put on the top of a gallon of milk.

Taste in coffee is entirely acquired...coffee that friends rave about I wouldn't have in my kitchen and visa-versa.

I personally like grinding my own 8 O'clock, using a 5 cup drip coffee maker and water filtered through my refrigerator.

But then, I spent 4 years in the Navy where I drank some of the strongest and most foul tasting coffee you can imagine but it sure did wake you up in a hurry.

I used to take my Coffee seriously, I used to get Meadgla d`Oro and brew it in an old Krupps coffee maker, Sadly we can't find it around here and the "gourmet" coffee's available here are rather like water that has run down a muddy ditch. So we are stuck with store bought Starbucks Dark Roast, Not real bad, but a long way from good

Tin Can

I was a Tin Can sailor in the late 1950s and the mess cooks made the last urn of coffee at about 2000 in the evening. One of my jobs for awhile was mess deck master-at-arms and every forth day I had to wake the mess cooks in the morning so I got called at 0400. I would go draw a cup of coffee (made the night before) from the urn it would be so strong that you could have added a gallon of milk and it would have still been dark. It tasted God-awful but it sure put hair on your chest. My second cup was fresh and regardless of how bad the mess cook might screw up in making it, it always tasted great after the first one.

Gentlemen, the Keurig make a nice cup of Joe, but the coffee refills are expensive. I decided to get a fully automatic expresso machine (makes coffee too) that cleans up after itself after every cup. When I roast my own beans, the ongoing cost for the thing is not very expensive, but it costs about 5x or more than a Keurig.

I gotta say fella's, the finest cup's of coffee i've ever had, was Maxwell House Morning Blend. Made in my $10.00 coffee pot from Wal-Mart. I've never tried any type of fancy coffee, not even Starbuck's.

It's good that you never tried anything else....you'll never know what your missing and hence will never miss it. There is something to be said for being a creature of habit.

One good fist full of coffee in a gallon can beside a campfire with a pinch of salt. Boil for 10 minutes and place an egg shell in to settle the grounds to the bottom and then and only then will you ever taste a real cup of coffee. If it won't cut the lead out of your six shooter it ain't ready.

We've had a Keurig B70 for a year and we love it. Lots of coffee's to choose from. My youngest daughter loves the hot coco. We do the green tea as well.
