Bought this pen kit along with the Astronaut stand and Mother Earth pen blank from Pen Kit Mall. Made this for a friend of the family who is a school teacher and a really big space nerd. This was an enjoyable pen to make.

I know he will enjoy it. Great Work and Nice Pen!

Astronaut story:
I lived in Japan for 25+ years and came home (USA) for a month most years visiting in churches in the area that I live. One Family I have been knowing since the early 1990s, and then met their cousin in 2000. I got to know the cousin well around 2012-2013. He told me he was a retired engineer but never went into detail. I often talked engineer talk and his contract engineering work in the area of NW Mississippi, (near Memphis). Then 2 years ago he was asked to speak on the spur of the moment to a monthly senior adult club that I often attended (after the main speaker for the month couldn't attend.) I was floored to learn that he was one of the top engineers at NASA in FL. He knew the Apollo astronauts personally and told brief stories of each, including one astronaut (forgot which one) that had a genius mathematical mind that could figure precise coordinates faster than their computers at the time. Then the engineer asked the question: "Do any of you remember Apollo 13 and the movie?" Most of us said yes. "Do you remember the part where the carbon dioxide got dangerously high?" Several of us said yes. Then he said, "Finding that solution was assigned to three MIssissippi State University Engineers - and I was on that 3 man team." He said it wasn't as difficult as it might seem because: 1. they had a list of EVERYTHING they had on board. and 2. They had to figure out how to join a round hose to a square box. So they took a cardboard box exactly like they had on board and a roll of duct tape, exactly as they had on board. So on the ground, the three engineers, wrote a detailed list and steps to cut assemble the adapter box to scrub the carbon dioxide out of the living space aboard the Apollo 13. It worked!

In January of 2024, when I had unexpected bypass surgery, the day after the surgery, the engineer friend was the first one to call me and reassure me I was going to be alright. He had the same surgery from the same doctor 2 years earlier.

One more brief astronaut story - When we lived and worked in Japan, one of our American co-workers was brother to John Young who flew on Apollo 10 and 16. We heard a lot about him at the time.

I like these kits and bought a few myself. I also have that same display stand. One of these days I will finish the one I have started and will post them here. You did a great job.
