My PIX are all gone. I apologize to anyone who reads one of my old threads. My web hosting company shut off my web site a month and a half before the bill was due and hasn't responded to phone calls, e-mails, prayers, or even my paying the invoice!! I think the guy must be dead.

Anyhoo... if the site comes back, the PIX will return otherwise I will have to get a new hosting company and see if I can transfer the registration which isn't going to be easy since I need the current host to effect the transfer. I suppose I will have to create a new site from one of my other domains.

I hate getting ripped off.

What web hosting company were you using. I'm toying around with building a web site and would be interested to know.

I have a buddy that has a networking, computer, servers, security camera, etc... company. I am lucky to be good friends with someone like this. He is going to host my site(s) for cheap money. Also he is going to help put my site together and show me some web design while doing it.
Good luck getting your stuff back up.

I've been using HostPC (www.hostpc.com) for years now. $27 a year for a comfortable amount of disk and bandwidth. If your site starts getting busy, upgrading on the fly is easy with them.

The only downside is no phone support. It's a highly automated system and trouble is handled via a ticket system. Fast responses, but not immediate.

Whoops, it seems I was incorrect. They have a support chat now too, so you can get immediate help. At least when it's manned.

YEAH!!! They turned it back on!! The PIX are back! The company is Dantor Communications. Very low price for Cold Fusion Hosting. And I am going to immediately start looking for a replacement. I can't afford to have these people not responding or not updating my records.

Pay more for a hosting company with good admin accesss tools and 24/7 phone support. I went for lowest price and almost got burned real bad... Loss of all files and loss of the domain.

I will have this situation fixed with new provider in the next 30-60 days!!! I will have to pay twice but I don't care. My domain is more valuable than the cheap fee. Price of a lesson learned.

Hey Bree,

Check out GoDaddy! That's were I have my site hosted. 24/7 support and very good to work with!

You can transfer your domain for $6.99, keep all the time remaining on your current registration + a FREE one year extension.

To transfer:

Good luck with your transfer.....they're a pain, but it will be worth it in the long run!

All I got from GoDaddy was a lot of spam, YMMV.

Thanks Barney.

I had my motorcycle club's website that I built for them with GoDaddy. They have pretty good service. I find their services to be a little confusing at times and they are not real experts in Cold Fusion which is the markup language that I like to use to develop web pages. But they are definitely better than Dantor.

One way or the other I need to get Dantor out of my life. I sent a request for them to update my Domain record with the proper information. That is essential for me to move the domain. Once I have current info in the domain record, I will start the search for a good Cold Fusion hosting company.

I have some excellent domains and I want to run 3 domains out of one hosting account with 2 additional domains parked on one of the 3 domains. Not every hosting company is willing to do stuff like that.

I have 3 related domains that I want to link together. I may put some of my pens there first for display and maybe later for sale. The domains are really good and valuable with one of them being a 3 character dot com domain. Those are VERY hard to find!!

So I have a lot of plans relating to domains. More to come.

Bree; I use PowWeb. They are very reliable, rather expensive, and have ways to locally archive your web site including all files and databases. Built in (they) install for many popular program/systems DRUPAL, JOOMLA, GALLERY, etc.
