I have been casting alumilte for a few months. Wanted to try the ResinSaver molds, so I ordered one to have a go at it. The attached picture shows how much resin I had to drill out of the tubes. Good mold, just doesn't work very well with pressure casting, which I need to do to keep the bubbles out of the alumilite. I reduced the pressure from my normal 65psi to 25psi in anticipation of possible leakage, but it just wasn't enough to prevent it. Guess I need to look into using some PR ocasionally.

Where/who carries PR in quantities suitable for the hobbiest caster?

TIA
Jake

Alternately, fill the tube with plumber's putty, dental wax, or dowel.
Just push out the material with an appropriate size dowel when finished.

Most craft stores carry pr by the quart or gallon. Michaels, a.c. Moore etc carry castin craft clear pr. With a 20% coupon it's not half bad.

Try US Composites … Silmar 41 Clear Polyester Casting Resin.
http://www.uscomposites.com/polyesters.html
I purchase a gallon at a time, but it can be a pain to pour small amounts. For a couple of bucks they will send an empty quart container …

Fred(PTownsubbie) uses silmar 40 which can be purchased here local.
I use the silmar 41 from US composites. There is not much difference between the two.

i found with mine if i use pressure i had to put pressure on the end of the mold pushing in on the tube with a small clamp . tape works by wrapping it around over the mold but is a wast of tape, clamp can be reused.

if you warm the resin and let it gas of before you mix, i don't have to use any pressure and get no bubbles
