I made one of these many years ago and don't remember who I gave it to so I thought I would make another one. It's from a pipe maker site. I searched Pipemakers Emporium but the website isn't loading. I bought a bunch of the really long blanks in different colors. It's cool because you can catch an open spot where it's really transparent. Some measuring and you can end up with the clear area at the end. I stopped the refill hole right where the white swirls end. I also painted the tubes and blank holes with Krylon Ink blue.

I'm really bad at pictures. I use to use a 35mm but my daughter borrowed it years ago for a photo class and I've never gotten it back. So this is just iPhone pics in a light tent I had. It has a round light at the top and throws a lot of light below. I'll attach another pic with that LED circle light in above.

Lovely pen and I think that the pictures look really good.

I wonder if you are thinking of Vermont Freehand. This is where I have gotten most of my ebonite and they have a bunch of different stuff that is used for pipe making.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure it was called pipemakers Emporium. Ed might remember. It was 15 years ago when I purchased from them. I have a bunch of stuff including a few tortoise shell rods. It turns hard but shines up like crazy.

Humor me :) and click on this Vermont Freehand link... and then go to the page for "Rods"

Yeah, it looks like the same type of stuff. Actually, pretty cool looking blanks and rods. I have a drawer full of that stuff. I'm pretty sure Pipemakers Emporium was in AZ though. Maybe they bought them out.

That's beautiful! I do like the clear end on it, and the custom finials always take a pen up a notch. The only thing I would do differently is to paint the finial piece white underneath to brighten it (though I probably would not have thought of that until after I had glued it in place. lol.)
That looks good with the needle point cartridge in there, too. A lot of the Jr. style pens look awkward with those refills. Is that a Pentel?

It seems to me that I've heard of Pipe Makers Emporium, but businesses buy and sell each other frequently. The graphic across the top looks familiar. I didn't expect to find a bunch of Fordite there. These rod cutoffs look like a fair deal: https://vermontfreehand.com/product/acrylic-4/

Anthony Turchetta also bought from them (Golden Nib--Tony's daughter is now running it--Blue Ripple looks much like your blank)

Yeah, I put that finial on the cal cap and was like oh oh, I see the chrome and hole underneath. I quickly grabbed a black sharpe and colored the underside. You're right though, painting the underside white would have been much better. Honestly, at that point I just wanted to finish the pen. I was tired of waiting around for 2 part epoxy to dry. Waiting for paint to dry. Waiting again for finial epoxy to dry.
I should have started other projects in between but for some strange reason my left ankle swelled up on me as I guess standing at the lathe for many hours a day lately as I'm getting back into this is something my ankles are not used to to. So I was trying to chill with my feet up.

You're right, I put a Pentel EnerGel medium needle tip refill in the pen. Honestly, I opened that refill package that is 14 years old and it writes beautifully.

My complements on the pen. Photography is excellent. Your description tells me you put in some time to cut the blank at a precise location.

I had to laugh. Been there. Patience is still a stretch sometimes for me, but I've gotten better. Then again, it's probably more stubbornness than patience.
The Energels are nice cartridges. They don't get enough respect compared to the Pilot G2s.
