Hello everybody,

I made some fountain pens last month for the craft show and they are sold. That was my first show and these cyclone pens were the stars of the show. They were the most expensive ones among others and, I am super happy about it. Hope you like it.

Some notes from the show:

-I was showing two products: shaving brushes and pens (mostly pens). The population consisted of %85 women, so I couldn't sell any shaving brushes. Maybe they found it too expensive but the interest for brushes were really low.

-Since the participants were women, they found most cigar pens really heavy. I have to turn some slim (not slimline) pens for the future shows.

-People didn't care about nib types or thickness. If they liked the color and the feeling of writing, they bought it. I always encouraged people to try pens. If they say yes, I was making an effort to fill the convertor and made the ink come to the nib. I think these efforts rise the possibility for sales since I am doing something for a potential buy. Kind of psychologic effect.

-I didn't make any general discounts. Only made personal discounts around %10 if requested.

-Price ranges were: Ballpoint pens with one blank: 45-75€, ballpoint pens with two blanks: 50-80€, Rollerball and fountain pens: 80-160€.

Nice looking pens, my favorite is 9007, love the colors. Glad to hear you had a great show. Just don't be surprised if at your next show that Cigar pens and shaving brushes out sell what did at this show. It's best to have a variety, each show can be totally different. Knowing that you need slimmer/lighter options is a good data point though. I don't sell pens, but I've researched craft shows well enough to be confident in my advice. This research is both from online and talking to many show creates people and applies to more than just pens.

Thank you very much. I was thinking about not to sell brushes anymore but obviously I should give some more shots for that :)

If you do a dozen shows and they don't sell that's one thing. I wouldn't build more, but shlepping them and trying to sell is a small effort now. After a few shows maybe adjust your price, but don't rock bottom it either.

Those are beautiful pens. Can you please tell us what the blanks are and where you bought them?

As for craft shows, It's always different as to what people like and will buy. I still have several really nice pens on my table that I made 6 months ago and they get a lot of compliments but no sales.

These are stabilized wood blanks. I am buying them from Turkey, please check Instagram account of supplier. According to EU shops, his blanks are bargain.
