A quick update ..... I met with the neurosurgeon today. He doesn't think the cyst is the cause of my symptoms and that it shouldn't be messed with (my medical terminology). He now wants an mri done and is sending me to a neurologist. Meanwhile, the numbness seems to be gone. I still have headaches off and on and, from time to time, some problems with swallowing.
Life is good.

Sounds like positive progress Doc.

I may be able to add some light to your situation though I am not a medical doctor nor do I play one on TV.

I experience headaches much more often than I would like and only wish I could help with that. The swallowing issue may be attributed to eating fast food. In our fast paced world I unfortunately find myself eating fast food much more frequently than I would prefer. This for me points to the fact that anytime I eat a McDonald's hamburger it tends to cause me difficulty in getting it down. More often than not it wants to reappear looking quite differently than when I first opened the wrapper.

All seriousness put aside. Glad to hear they don't think the cyst is the problem. Now we just wanna hear that it's a temporary allergy or something :)

Continuing with our prayers,

LR

Great news, Al!!

BTW, what college professor doesn't have problems with headaches? (Deans, Chancellors, Students, etc, etc)

And, I think this particular election cycle is jam-packed with uh stuff that is awfully hard to swallow!!

Glad to hear that things are looking up. It is always good to get a second opinion. Will keep sending positive energy and prayers in your direction.

Doc,

While I have NO IDEA WHERE you could get a GOOD dental opinion,

Numbness sounds like the novocaine wearing off, and trouble swallowing happens frequently with tooth issues, which are, of course a BIG headache!!!

Have you considered talking with someone KNOWLEDGEABLE in Dental work?????

Maybe someone on the forum could find you another government employee with such specialized knowledge.

Just a thought!!

Ed

Ed, you know I have trouble understanding you when you speak in riddles!?!?! Are you referring to anyone I know?:confused::cool:

Al, Whatever you do be comfortable with the decision of the doctor. If not get a second third opinion. It took eights years for me to find a doctor who listened to me. I had graphs showing in detail what I was tiring to get across to the doctors. One finally listened and the side effects of a drug went away in two weeks!

Good luck and require the doctors to explain in common terms for yourself. MRI are pretty interesting if you can get the doctor to show you the details. Are you getting a contrast MRI or a plain one.

God be with you my friend!
