I'm almost sure this topic has come up before, but is Snakewood prone to cracking?! (Yes/No)

I know from experience when turning Gaboon Ebony, I left the blanks proud of the bushings, and let them be for a few days. After they had finished drying/cooling/cracking, I would then get them back on the lathe, and finish them off.

This has seemed to work well ! Should I treat the Snakewood the same way? Is there a trick to turning them?

As always, any & all assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

Snakewood is the number one cracker!

Treat it delicately; don't let it heat up when drilling. Keep it out of the heat.
