Smallish Gloat

Dad and I visited a friend of ours who is a taxidermist. Well needless to say, he gave me a free 70# compound bow that's older, but never been used, earlier in the night my dad mentioned about my game calls that i'm starting to work on, so Bob handed me a piece of tiger maple that was leftover from the making of his custom recurve bow and asked me to do a duck call for him, and that i get to keep the left overs. The wood comes from a friend of his that supplies martin guitars and a major piano manufacturer. Nice thing is, he is the co runner of the largest sports show in our county(at least) so it'll be easy if I want a stand this summer. So rant over.

Some nice curl in that. An acid stain will bring that out beautifully.

What's an acid stain and how do you apply one? And NOooo... it's not something left over from my last episode of recreational chemical use!

I'm not going to acid stain the call or pen from him, I want to keep with the look of his bow.

Eh screwed up the call, the stock was not big enough and broke through. Making him one out of cocobolo, the pen will still be from the original piece he gave me. As a bonus i will laser engrave the pieces for him. The man is a call expert so if he approves that I did good I guess I'm getting a table at the show!
