A fella at church found out I turn wood and started bringing me stuff. See the picture below. The first week he brought me the bundle of 1 x 1 stuff, and the small board of what he calls philippine mahogany in the middle of all the larger boards standing upright, as well as the 2x2 piece (24-inches long) with the notch cut of it. There is a picture of the grain of the small board by itself.

Then last week he brought me the other pieces standing upright. Several 2-inch thick pieces in various sizes - two mahogany, four clear maple with some nice grain and a number of 5/4 walnut cut offs. he asked if I wanted more - I said he better let me ruin these pieces first.

I made a pen for him from a piece of the nicely grained mahogany, but I can't find it :(. There has been some redecorating going on here and in the process it has been misplaced. That mahogany get a nice gold colored fleck in it that is hard to describe and that may not photogrph that weel - providing I ever do find the pen.

Now I know I live in the wrong area!:) spalted maple, cherry burl (more than he knows what to do with!) and then all of this! Someone upstairs wants you to turn! Ever thought of changing your name to "lucky" ?

The philippine mahogany is pretty neat stuff, I have a bit of it as well, but guess what? No one GAVE it to me. :D Good gloat.
