This is an unfinished Maple Bowl that I worked on over the weekend. Tonight I finished the lid with a finial. I applied 1 coat of Min wax
poly....(1 of probably 12) The bowl is 2.5" x 6.75 The finial is Padauk & Ebony.

Thanks!

Thanks Bob! My sister saw the combination & said NO. NO. NO. The woods didn't match & the finial was too tall. I told her that in some circles adding finials was "the thing"...in some cases the taller the better! But she may be right! Finials are not really my "thing" either..lol Maybe we can get together & critique the color contrast, the height, DIA etc....

That is too cool Phillip.

I hope you're planning on bringing that to show at the next meeting. Well done.

that is purdy
the finish will really make that pop
cant wait to see it.......
reminds me of a Hershey kiss

Very nice turnings Phillip...BESURE and post a photo or two of the finished product...it's got to really make your bowl really pop! Thanks for sharing and safe turning to you!

I like the shape and it appears well done, but I think that so many woods are too distracting and it loses some of it's cohesiveness. If the finial was only one wood it would, to me, be more cohesive with a better flow.
