After looking at lots of pictures and reading alot about different blank storage situations, And then Gary posted his handy dandy way to get rid of extra blanks, It got me to thinking about my own blank collection. I was actually more curious than anything else. I know i have seen pictures of very large cabinets with numerous blanks in each little cubby for a grand total of a gazillion blanks. But what about the little stashes? I know there has to be some sweet little blank hole ups out there.

I for one, think mine is getting respectable. I don't have a gazillion blanks. In fact, what you see here is all i got in the way of wood blanks. But if you look closely, you might notice a few names in there of some really nice species! And i am proud of my variety too. I only have one or two blanks of some variety, but i have over 40 different types of wood! Surely there are penturners out there that are as proud of their blank stash as I am.

P.S. Most of this wood is stored together in a used usps box. I do seperate a handfull of the blanks and store them in a special place. Somewhere i can grab them if my house burns down type of deal!

Oh yeah... the box is full of CURLY Maple. I mean one of the stooges lives in that wood... CURLY maple.

Well here lately I have been all about the synthetics. Right now i am into Alumilite and PR. Before that, it was a short visit with trustone, ebonite, Alt. Ivory, Alt. Amber, and some other synthetics.

There is a Honduran rosewood eye burl blank in there that is cut in half. I would have turned that blank already, but i realized right after cutting it that i do not own the ginormous drill bit for the cap of a full size Gent. It will be next for the wood blanks though...

very nice stach you have there you need more room you can send them to me and i will store them for you .

Dannie

Ron wait till you start hiding blanks so no one can find them-----DAMHIKT

Anf then there's that pile

That are sitting on your desk

and the pile you keep hid in your office---things like HHL and my 1920's Bakelite
Don't want to get any finger prints on those.

Wait till you start finding blanks in strange places. Blanks you don't even remember having!!

In the upper right of the pic is someting labeled Fog Wood, and just below it is Goat Wood.

Is fog wood something someone hit their head on or ran into with a car during a real bad foggy spell?:)
And I really would like to know about goat wood, but am just a bit perplexed on what the answer would be!!
Jerry

I'm also curious about goat wood and fog wood. Not sure I've heard of either one and we live in the same state.

Nice stash.

(As far as i know, I am the first to use this term for my tradewood. These are blanks that i got on trade and were not labeled. I dont know what species they are, so they are GOATwood)

Poor Hickory burl is probably lonesome. Might need to send that one to me so he can be around family and friends.

Manny

Hey Manny, you are right! That Hickory Burl is very lonesome. It is like Lonesome Dove or something over here.... In fact, you should send me a box full of his kin so he isn't so lonesome anymore!

Ron some of that wood looks familiar. You did not get someone else's wood by mistake did you.Todd

Funny story... Yes, As a matter of fact, That big box of Maple was supposed to live in a different state i think. In fact, A young Lady was a bit perplexed because i had that wood and the sender was slacking shipping (Imagine that:biggrin:) some DIFFERENT wood that was promised. But i won't get into details... It is going to be the basis of my Liar's club entry next year!!

*Sorry boss. I couldn't resist! You know i am cool on the shipping... I just had to rib you some!*
