Small Disaster:
Since my garage is not insulated, it get really cold in there during the winter. I forgot to take in my supply of CA glue over the cold months, and one ruptured and froze all of the others together! I have two bottles that are fairly full, just glued together and to the tray I keep them in.

I have a few pens that I have promised to make for a Sunday School event as prizes, so I was kind of hamstrung last night.

Big Thank You:
I emailed Fritz at Woodturningz this morning that I need to order some tools we emailed about last week, as well as replacement glue. He called me within 10 minutes, and the order will be here tomorrow. That is customer service at its best.

By the way, I will take a careful attempt at removing the tray from the bottles so that I can salvage the glue in the bottles.

For the record, the 1/8" inch of medium CA that the two glue bottles is embedded in has a nice finish, with good depth, and no visible defects.

It's nice you have a nice finish and all but howChatoyantis the tray?

Sorry to hear about your delima. Never thought of it freezing though.

Did the freeze cause it to rupture? I keep all of my excess new 16 oz bottles of CA in the freezer to help it stay fresh. Never had a problem with one rupturing but will keep an eye on them.

I haven't figured this Ca thing out yet... I buy the 8 oz bottles from Monty and just leave them in the shop year round... I go through 8 oz about every 6 months or a little longer. I pour what I need into the little two ounce bottles that sit on a shelf over the lathe... my shop isn't insulated and things do freeze out there... I had ice crystals in my wax emulsion for painting end grain on new cuts... didn't seem to hurt that.. I did loose some water based paints.. they froze and decided not to try to use them since the paint store said it was ruined... may have just been trying to sell me more paint.. I don't know that I've ever had a problem with the glue. May be that I'm just not recognizing a problem when it occurs.

I know I've had a problem with separation of wood glues that have
frozen, but I don't know enough about CA.
