What is your slowest turned pen?

I don't mean something you spent 40 hours glueing wood together. I mean drilling, and turning only?

I just spent roughly 12 to 16 hours drilling, turning, and sanding my PITH entry. It is a Cigar pen. It has no segments, or other mods. Bone stock. It is not make of metal (The components are of course), but yet and still i spent roughly 4 hours drilling, and somewhere between 8 and 12 hours turning.

I was just curious if anyone else has done a project that was slow like father time.

Okay, you have my curiosity up.....

If there is a upper and lower body, you have 2 holes to drill. What took 4 hours, or are you counting the time to allow the bit to cool? Did you need drilling to make segments or something and add that time?

it was 4 hours of drilling meaning drill for 1 revolution of the wheel, and let it cool. turn 1 rev, and cool.

The turning process was very similar. make two thin cuts, and sharpen. The grinder stayed turned on the whole time. It was just easier and faster instead of waiting for it to spool up. Sure made me wish I had a penchuck!!!Next time for sure!

This was a blank that i got a LONG LONG time ago... Like when i FIRST started turning. I had been scared of it until now. When i cut it on the tablesaw, I really thought my blade was shot. I cut a piece of wood immediately following cutting this, and my blade was fine. THIS STUFF IS HARD!

Probably an Emperor I made from white paper micarta faux/alternate Ivory. Very-very hard and a big investment I did not want to mess up. Pen sold for $300.00.

sI've never put a clock on it, but I;d say doing a Cebloplast Jr Retro or Gent/ statesman I'm thinking around 2-1/2 to 3 hours, with the drilling taking the longest.
