Has anyone ever used the slow speed pen drying system that PSI offers?

I have purchased a couple of extra mandrels from China so that I can take my blanks off the lathe while the CA finish is drying and I can continue my work on new pieces. I am wondering if the rotating engine at slow speed would be an actual benefit or if I am just better off letting the CA dry if I place the mandrels in a bored out hole in some plywood?

It is my understanding that system is made for blanks either dipped, sprayed or brushed on poly or similar alternative coating. The constant turning prevents a drip from forming. A CA finish would not need this. I very much agree that a CA finish needs to be left to harden, but a simple set up where the blank does not touch or rest on anything would suffice.

I turn almost all acrylic, but I do wood for segmenting, and put wipe on poly on those blanks. I have a PSI single mandrel version of that drying system and a home made version using a "spit" motor. They both work well. I now prefer poly finishes, but they take much more time....days for me. Most guys use a light/heat set up to hasten the drying, which looks promising. I never have used that method, not for any other reason than I give my wife a hard time for burning candles and she mentioned that this was not safe either...which I do not agree with, but want her to not burn the candles and don't which to start a thing!
 
I have some pens I made 10 to 15 years ago with CA. About 40% of them have microcracks in them....plus Lord only knows about the ones I sold and gave away...now I am not saying that I was any ace back then or even now for that matter, but I have serious doubts as to the longevity of CA finishes. I know it all has to do with the wood and application methods. Plus I hate the smell. Now I sure many people will disagree with me, so this is my opinion only.

Poly is much harder than CA. Also, I buff everything.....it enhances everything!

CA dries in a matter of seconds. If you spray with accelerator it sets immediately. Use your drier for poly or wipe on. But it's not needed for CA.
