I BELIEVE (operative word, I have never actually viewed) that Ed Davidson's videos show the skew in action. Take a peek if you have time.

Ed aka yoyo spin does use the skew a lot and talks about it on his videos.

what are you using it on? I have turned around 8 of Ed's resin bottle stoppers....what an experience.
What I found was that you (I) don't use it anything like with wood. On the ends you sort of keep it level, about centre, and push it in like a parting tool movement.
If it is for resin, go and watch one of Ed's resin video, they are excellent.
Funny thing is it actually took me a while to figure out how to use the skew again on wood LOL!
