I want to try casting as I just got a large supply of peacock feathers. Looking at the various bits of info, I think Silmar 41 is the material I want to try first.

Any recommendations on the best place to get it? From my own research, I am leaning toward US Composites, but I would prefer to support an IAP vendor if they have it at a reasonable price.

I ordered mine from US Composites, I like the fact that they deal in volume so you probably aren't getting a product that has a reduced shelf life from it's time in the warehouse. They are really fast at shipping too.

I'd definitely stick with US composites. If you're looking into feather casting you'd be best off using a tube casting mold. There are a couple different members here that sell these kind.

I was going to look up the guy with the resinsavers molds. Those seem to get good reviews and I would like to minimize the cost of my mistakes.

Silmar 41 is what I use. It might be worth a PM to JohnU. When I make peacock blanks in S41, they turn really dark. John's look much better. He might be able to help you make 'em look better.
