Here's a silly question. How fast do you all set your drill press at for driling wood? I have been using a slow speed to keep down on temperature, and because I was told to use a slow speed for wood. But more and more I keep seeing directions for drilling blanks to set the speed at 2000 RPM or more?! Is this correct? If so, is it the same for all types of wood drilling (ie. cross grain/end grain)?

I have been a serious woodworker for a couple of years now, and it's a question I never thought to ask. Can't help but feel like a bit of a moron...
