What type of silicone? Are you making a mold with wood?
If so, mix up 90% mineral spirits and 10% vaseline. Brush it on
and let it dry. The spirits will evaporate leaving an even coating
of vaseline, which is an effective release. I use it every day for molds.
Brush the wood with normal vegetable oil or I have also used a laquer spray to seal the wood. The vegetable oil works better though. The first coat will soak in so you may need more than one. It should feel slick when you are done but not too much excess left over.
I used regular car wax. Just rub a coat on and then cast over it. The silicon slides right off with no sticking. Now you have three things that all work.

I used lacquer on my wood negatives and it worked out very well, just make sure you use a few coats and use close grained woods for molds(maple).Good Luck,Victor
