All the following kits use 27/64 drill...

Berea offers a Sierra
AZ - offers a Sierra made by Berea
PSI - lists Gatsby under Sierra search
Woodcraft - Has Wall Street II (looks like Sierra)

The Woodcraft tubes appear to be a bit longer than Berea Sierra...

I thought I saw a post about kits not being interchangeable...!!!
Can someone please clear up the kit differences for me...???

Thanks in advance
Ed

Different suppliers do sell the same kits. I use the Sierra from BTW and Rockler as well as the WS II form Woodcraft. I interchnage the tubes on all of them and have not had a problem. I've never bought the Gatsby.

Just be forewarned, there are new manufacturers offering very similar kits that may or may not exactly match the dimensions.

It is always best to measure your kit components, then turn the blanks to the measurements you obtain.

About the time you think you KNOW the answer, someone will slightly CHANGE the question.

Rockler, Woodcraft (wall street II), Arizona Silhouette, and beartooth woods sell berea kits so they are all sierras. The PSI gatsby and the CSUSA sienna are very very similar. I turn them all using the same bushings....but I do mike the kit parts and match them to the blanks.
Do a good turn daily!
Don

Thanks guys...
That helps...

I bought a Sierra from Woodcraft not too long ago and agree that it is longer than Sierras that I have purchased from Bear Tooth Woods and/or Arizona Silhouette - it is almost the same length as a standard length Sierra click pen.

well, tube length on the Sierra (and clones) twist pens is not critical. I recall someone here making a sierra that was about 6 inches long because they didn't like how short the overall pen was stock.

The Elegant Beauty (from LauLau) and Aero are VERY tube length critical.

Don't forget that place called exoticblanks.com.... they sell a diplomat 2:biggrin: Aint that right Ed?

Yes, thanks for thinking of me.

And this thread is EXACTLY the reason we don't call it a "sierra". Although the "Diplomat" bushings can be used on the Wood Craft Wall Street 2 pens, as well (which MIGHT be a hint to SOME pen makers).

WHAT confusion????

I don't mean to "beat a dead horse" but here's what I've found...
WHAT am I missing...???

Bear Tooth for Sierra "Click Pen" only says: Tube Length is 2.424
http://www.beartoothwoods.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_63&products_id=730

Bear Tooth says for following Sierra's: tube length is 2.210
- Sierra Pen
- Elegant Sierra Pen
- Sierra Vista Pen
http://www.beartoothwoods.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_69&products_id=272

Another interesting detail...

What's even more interesting for the: Sierra Elegant Beauty Black Titanium and Titanium gold (Operative word is ELEGANT) - The pictures (Berea & WC) are IDENTICAL...

Berea sells for $10.00...
http://www.bereahardwoods.com/pen-kit/sets/Sierra_Elegant_Beauty.html

WC sells same pen for $18.99...
http://www.woodcraft.com/Product/20...Pen-Kit-Black-Titanium-and-Titanium-Gold.aspx

Berea does have a $17.50 version of the Sierra, but not the "Elegant"...
definitely different from the Wall Street II Elegant at WC...
