I acquired a bit of Siberian Elm Burl. It turned really nicely. One advantage of Burls is that when a piece breaks out you can pack the hole with CA and sawdust and I don't think anyone can find that spot back.
Thanks. That was a local tree that an arborist took down and I got a wee piece of the Burl.Beautiful pen Duane. Very nice timber and you did it proud.
Thanks for sharing - I love seeing timbers I have not seen before.
I actually have been looking at my property recently. In central Ohio I have the typical - Shagbark Hickory, Ash (dead or dying), Oak, Beech, Maples, but also some less common: recently cut Yew, American Hornbeam, Redbud, English Oak, Sycamore. Most are plain, but I still find many interesting pen blanks in my firewood stack! Thanks. That was a local tree that an arborist took down and I got a wee piece of the Burl.
