Daughter's boyfriend asked her to marry him earily this week. He did it right and talked to me about it first to get my blessings, asked her with much more class than I did 30 years ago when I asked my wife, great guy, loves my daughter nd takes good care of her, etc. Problem now is as the wedding plans start I can see that the slow-speed grinder, a new planer for my "flat" work, trip to Portland for AAW. all those new turning tools, even the beer budget, all are obviously going to get cut to pay for this shindig!

And now the second daughter has a new boyfriend - dang!

Congrats to your daughter, sounds like a good guy.
He shouldn't mind you telling him to get a second job to pay for the wedding. [:D]
Who made that rule anyway ???

My sister got married in a big wedding that cost both my parents and his parents 10-15k each. I went to vegas for a week and got married there. Nobody but me and my wife paid for the trip and the wedding, but we had our closest friends there, got a legal mariage and had way more fun than if we would have had a ceremony in a church and then had to do the reception.

I got screwed on mine. My wife's father just went bust in his business befoe we got married. So I had to sell my primo red 59 Vette in 79' to pay for the wedding and honeymoon. I still bring that up to this day.[V]

Tell them guests may be offended by a religious ceremony that is not in keeping with what eveyone may believe in and that a simple legal proceeding by a justice of the peace would be much more politically correct.

Exactly, my same feelings [:0]
The only good thing that came out of it, is I got a keepper [:)]

From what I remember of Ray's daughter sitting on the steps in her pretty red sweater, ((Ihaven't totally gone senile yet, I always rember pics of pretty girls) this guy is getting a prize ! [:p] So he should pony up [8D]

Congrats on your daughter's engagement, getting a good partner in this day and age is a miracle in itself.

Got married in Mom & Dad's backyard the first time and Dad didn't get walk me down the aisle, always felt bad about that. Second time my Father walked me down the "aisle" in Bullhead city NV. and we gambled in Lauflan (sp?) AZ that night. Won some money and had a great time. An "aisle" can be anywhere.

My brother had a 67 gold vette, loved that car. Think he actually cried the day he sold it
[:(]

My wife & Iaid for our own wedding this Apri will be 24 years for us. We also had 250 people. For us it was a
LOT OF OVERTIME to pay for it. But we had no one tell us what we could or could not do. Both ofour parents didn't have the money so we did it ourselves.

We paid for our own too... My wife's parents were very poor and we knew that we couldn't ask them to help. We paid for everything except the rehearsal dinner which my parents picked up the tab for. Heck - we even used her paycheck to get the rings out of layaway at the jewelers [:D]. We're still together 33 years later! Dawn says she'd never re-marry 'cause it was too hard to break me in.

Ray, just register your duaghter at Woodcraft & Grizzly and when she gets all these tools she doesn't want......well, I guess you can take them off her hands [;)]

My wife and I got married 10 years ago. We had a nice wedding that her father paid for. In the negihborhood of 25 large. My wife and I both loved it. But to this day, she still says that she wishes we put that money away and took a visit to Vegas to have Elvis do the wedding. Especially when we bought our first home. 25 grand would have helped alot back then.

Congratulations. You don't know how lucky you are to have had your daughter find one that you don't want to mount on above your fireplace. My 6 year old already scares me.
