Shipping pens thru the mail?

If you are shipping pens thru the mail, how do you ship?

Sending it in a vhs size priority box thru the mail is $4.05.
But if you send it thru first class it is around $1.50.

None of the listed prices have insurance.

What type of packaging do you use, if you don't use priority boxes?

I use a #4 priority box. Not flat rate but if it doesn't weigh much the cost is only $4.05.

First Class with Delivery Confirmation. Most packages are less than $2.00. The Postal person said the package needs to me greater than 3/4 thick to use the DC. Looking at a DC slip it is referred to as "First-Class Mail parcel" Same form used for Priority Service.

chuck, what are you using to package your pens in to send first class?

i can not find any boxes that after buying that would save money versus using priority mail boxes?

besides a padded envelope.

Recycles, so far. The last box I used was from the Grizzly tap I received. The box sized out a about 12 x 12 x 4.5. It was less than $3.00 VA to Chicago.

You can only go up to less than 13 oz. packages using 1st class mail. 39 cents for up to 1 ounce and 24 cents for each additional ounce or part thereof.
From there you will have to go to priority mail or parcel post.

tas, I am confused if it weighs more than 13 oz it has to go priority, is that correct?

chuck thanks for the link. box only weighs 2.4 ozs need to weigh a pen and see if it falls under the 13 oz

You can send it priority (2 or 3 day delivery) or parcel post (much longer but cheaper) if it is 13 oz. or over. One pen in a small box shouldn't weigh more than 6 or 7 ounces. Just weighed one today to send tomorrow (baron with plastic gift box in a 4 x 6 x 2 box wrapped in bubble wrap) and it weighs less than 7 ounces.
