Just thought I would post this, cause it pissed me off.

THANKFULLY, it was a customer, NOT for our blanks, but for a pen.

She called me to tell me she had NOT received my pen. I informed HER I had shipped about a week earlier, but I would make another and ship it. She said I should send HER the shipment info, numbers etc. (Implying that I did NOT ship). Because I had shipped a LOT, and some was paypal (easier and easily traced), others USPS - NOT easily traced unless you keep the receipt and have a "system" for filing, I had no idea WHERE HER info might be, so I shipped another and she, finally, received it and got off my case.

BEFORE you push on vendors, realize that once a package is SHIPPED, it is legally, RECEIVED. IF I spend the time to find the information she wanted, I CAN consider the matter closed - I have done everything the LAW requires when I hand it to the USPS.

This is NOT the way to keep customers. But, when we ship replacement products it is NOT because we LEGALLY HAVE to, it is instead because we want to do what I think is "Right".

I will NEVER accept another order from her and I suspect the FIRST pen I shipped her is sitting on her property somewhere.

Thanks, I feel better:D:D:D:D

I had a similar experience with an order from Joe (Turn Crafts) a couple months back.

Joe mailed my products and sent me tracking information through PayPal. A week later, I had not product and the USPS tracking information was showing the package sitting in California PO where Joe deposited it.

I contacted Joe to help me deal with the USPS from his side. He offered to replace the parts, if they had not arrived the following Monday. He said he would then file a claim with the Post Office so I would not have to.

He did not have to do any of this. As you said, Joe's job was done when the USPS had the package.

I appreciate the fact that people like Joe Collazo and you have the integrity and honor, to go the extra mile for your customers.

Fortunately, my package arrive the following Monday, 12 days after Joe mailed in Priority Mail. The USPS had no explanation. They did not even offer an apology.

Those #'s that PayPal & the USPS provides are not technically tracking #'s.... they are just showing that the PO has received the package.
I had a similar situation and talked to the local Postmaster General about it and that is the story I received. Once the package is received by the PO it is at their mercy as to when it is delivered. I wish the USPS would get on the ball like UPS & FedEx so that they would provide free tracking on all of their packages.

Harvey,

Joe Collazo and I APPRECIATE people like YOU, who say "thank-you", not "I don't believe you"!! (THAT was what p'd me off)

And, I will continue to ship replacements because of YOUR attitude.

John,

I agree and that's another problem. We also shipped some stuff that was received and left on a porch or something. THAT customer was very pleasant. When I told her it showed as "received", she asked her mail person WHERE it might be - he led her right to it!

PLEASANT can get things done, cooperatively!

BUT, a signature WOULD be awfully nice, if it actually happened. (USPS does not do this. NOR does UPS on "residentials" any more)

The vendor is, nonetheless, off the hook by showing they gave it to the delivery (USPS< UPS< FEDEX< anyone) The receiver has to pay and collect from the USPS< UPS< ETC

The USPS calls them "tracking" numbers. The problem I have seen is they don't update their "tracking" system.

actually the ones you get when you ship via PayPal are delivery confirmation numbers, they are useless for tracking they aren't even acknowledged untill the package is either delivered to a person, or recieved at the destination post office, You can pay extra and get tracking numbers, and insured packages can be tracked . but ya gotta pay for it. like we don't pay enough any way :(:(

Unfortunately, it's not always the usps, ups, fed ex or whoever.I'm not defending them, 'cause they've lost things I've ordered and shipped. However, there are a lot of shady people around.[}:)] Always trying to get something for nothing.
IMO they are thieves. Stealing is stealing.
That makes it difficult for honest people, and drives the cost up on everything, and makes it very hard to get someone to trust people.

My wife orderd a package before Christmas. Instead of delivering to 114, it was left at 117 on the back porch of an obviously vacant house and the shipping record showed front porch. Sometimes there's just stupidity involved in the delivery system. But to the folks on this site and our supplies who go the "extra mile", THANK YOU!

Since I spent so many years in the shipping industry, I have a fair idea of how the mail and packages flow.. that being said, I have on two occasions recently recieved orders from one of my suppliers, addressed to me, at my address, but because there are two persons in this little town of 800 people, with the same name and the person sorting the mail probably knew the other person, my package was delivered on the other side of town (and was opened by my counter part before he realized it wasn't form him) Fortunately, HE (after he opened my package) took the time to call me and let me know he had my package.

On another occasion, a carrier delivered a package by placing it in the back of my pick up.. granted a notice of such was stuck on the front door.. but because I do live in a small community that has no garbage pick up, we often store the household garbage in the truck before taking it to the local disposal station.

Chuck,

There are 5 Ed Browns in Racine - need I say more???

One has a business 3 blocks from MY residence. I don't GIVE people my HOME address any more, then we spend less time commuting to each other's places.

Ed, I have a solution to your problem of having too many Ed Browns in your city. Just be sure whoever is sending you mail uses one of your personalized stamps. This will put an end to any further confusion! [}:)] :D [}:)]

Let me play Devil's advocate for a moment.

Suppose you order something from a vendor whom you never ordered from before and paid your money. You wait and wait but your order never arrives. Calling the vendor you get "well it's been shipped". What are you to think? You ask for proof that it's been shipped and you are told " I don't know where the paperwork is but it has been shipped and it's not my problem anymore.

When I used to sell things on Ebay I always insisted that the package be insured and that it was sent with delivery confirmation. This protects both me and the purchaser. I have purchased many things on Ebay and I usually always opt for insurance when it is offered and I pay by paypal whenever I can. Incidentally I have had two occasions where packages have been lost in the mail and because the seller did not offer insurance and could not prove that the package had been shipped or received I was refunded my money from paypal.

I'm not an attorney, I do not play one on T.V. and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but I will tell you that if you do not C.Y.A. the chances are very high that you will get bit.

There's a simple solution, Ed. Just change your name. A quick search of the Racine, Wisconsin phone book shows "Hillary Clinton" is available. Just a thought.

Michael,

I think a search of any white pages may show "Hillary Clinton" is available. For the ladies, Bill Clinton is ALSO available.

By the time she reaches WIsconsin (Feb 18 I think), she may be VERY available.

As a seller all you can do is hope the buyer is honest. As a buyer I always use Amex (even on pay pal) and if I call Amex and tell them I didnt receive it I will get a refund unless the seller can prove I received it.

Not a perfect world but we have to deal with it.
