I am paying someone to set up a website for me.

I want to add a shopping cart to the site, but i feel uncomfortable to give out my paypal acct info to someone i met over the internet at a board i frequent a lot.

How hard is it to set up a shopping cart thru paypal and insert the HTML into a website when you know nothing about HTML?

I don't think the guy would do anything, but i just feel uncomfortable doing it.

also some of the things i drll do not fit in a priorty box.

how do you figure out the shipping for the items?

is there a map like the ups uses for zone shipping for the post office?

Hi John, it is very easy, Paypal will genarate the html for you all you need to do is copy and paste it. You can also get help and information on how to do it from the people at paypal, if you need more help let me know and I will try to find some links for you, aloha.

John,
Like Chris said, PayPal shopping carts are simple. They walk you through every step. I use the simplest method on my site and it's worked out great. I do everything on my site, and was apprehensive about the shopping cart thing until I started using PayPal.

When I started the site and set up the carts, I emailed a couple of friends and went thru mock transactions - had them order and pay for something and then tell me any bumps or trouble they encountered. I also refunded one friend's order so I knew how to deal with that as well.

As for shipping with USPS and UPS, just register with their sites and you can get set up for shipping info too.

Good luck. There's lots of folks here on IAP who can help you along the way!

If they use a pre-package shopping cart like Zen Cart, you don't need to worry. All the designer needs is the primary email address for your paypal account. They can't withdraw funds from paypal without logging in. They only can deposit funds. If you don't give them your password, they can't get in, and they will never need that password.

Well working on the shopping cart thru paypal. But i don't like it to much.
doesn't like to let you but shipping to certain states. Seems you must do a % or flat rate.

On some of the stuff it is either little high or just a little low, I can live with that.
But on some it is way high or way low.

does Zen Cart let you set up rates per zone? where they can choose what zone they live in and let it do the shipping calculations that way?

something like this?
