Okay, so I am new to this whole " casting" thing. I have never done it using a pressure pot. I have watched a lot of videos that show casting under pressure , and they all seem to " demold" a lot faster than I have done casting with no pressure. Does it being under pressure speed up the curing time?
Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I really don't understand:confused:

Are the videos you're talking about using the same resin you are? There are different kinds of resins. The 2 most popular around this forum are silmar 41 and alumilite. Alumilite requires pressure to prevent bubbles from forming, and to reduce the size of existing bubbles. Demold time is about an hour. But it will set up in about the same time even if you don't use a pressure pot.

Silmar 41 (also called poly resin or PR) is ready to demold in about 6 to 12 hours. A variety of factors will affect the amount of time. Mostly temperature, but also humidity. I've never used pressure for PR, so I'm not sure if it affects the demold time significantly or not.

PR might cure a little faster under pressure. Mainly BC its a small sealed environment and the heat created while curing is retained. I cast all my blanks under pressure, but I also leave them for 6hrs minimum.
