I just finished making this CIGAR PEN for a graduate of the Calvary Chapel Bible College . It is black walnut and curly maple . The cross is three layers of veneer. I cut the walnut blank crosswise first about 1/3 of the way through and glued in the horizontal part of the cross, then cut the top and bottom part of the walnut blank all the way through. I then made the vertical cut about 1/2 way through , glued in the vertical cross part and glued in the top and bottom. All done with my small modelmakers table saw . Finish is about 6 coats of poly .
