The matches have been made and sent out.

I sent the messages out using the forum's PM system unless email was the only contact option in your profile.

One of our canadian participants has pointed out that packages going to Canada (and other international destinations I would figure) should be marked as gifts on the customs forms and not to exaggerate the value of the contents so the recipient does not get stuck paying steep taxes/fees in what is supposed to be a friendly gift exchange.

If anyone has any questions, please contact me directly. Thanks.

Got my match. Thanks Jason for all your hard work on this. Now I have to figure out what to send,,,,,,,,,ah, you thought I was going to say who my secret pick was huh?

I got a Santa box going north to Canada and I was thinking about some blanks with other stuff. Do they have any wood up there like Mesquite, Bois d'Arc, Camphor, Box Elder, Cedar and Sasafrass? These are all local woods and some of my favorites. I just don't want to send any wood that would be readily available up there. I kinda have visions of Canada being this great treeless wasteland of frozen tundra....sorta like Alaska. Maybe I am think of farther north, "eh". BTW, that's the only Canadian word I know.

Somebody clue me in.

Cedar we have, but that's it from your list...

Southern Ontario has maple, birch, and a lot of other leafy trees - Northern Ontario has pine, spruce, cedar...Big Leaf Maple in BC...

Not a lot of variety as far as natural growing trees - we're a primarily boreal-coniferous forest area.

Also Box Elder otherwise known as......

Acer negundo is a species of maple native to North America. Box Elder, Boxelder Maple, and Maple Ash are its most common names in the United States. Other variant names -- some of which are obviously regional - include Ash Maple, Ash-leaf Maple, Black Ash, California Boxelder, Cutleaf Maple, Cut-leaved Maple, Negundo Maple, Red River Maple, Stinking Ash, Sugar Ash, Three-leaved Maple, and Western Boxelder. In Canada it is known as Manitoba Maple[2]. In Russia it is called American Maple (Russian: американский клён

Thanks Andrew, I won't be sending my partner no boreal/coniferous forest products. I've got some good local stuff like Mesquite burl, cross-cut Elm and Bois d'Arc that make great pens. I looked at his site and he makes a pretty good pen but maybe I can send him a surprise like a 'gator pen or something unusual. What kind of stuff are some of y'all sending? Give me some ideas. It was easier when it was just a pen swap!
