I am not sure if it is just me or what. but every time I try to search for anything the search comes back with none of the word I type being used in the search. I am trying to find my old thread for the 50 cal pen kits and know good and well that posts with 50 cal in them have been posted in the last few days. but searching for 50 cal brings up nothing. at first it would not even use 50, cal, or BMG. It keeps telling me the words are to short. I hate programs that think they are smarter than me. just match the friggen binary code. I don't want the opinon of anything that cannot count higher than 1.
thanks I think I feel better now.

Daniel,

I also usually get that response when I try a search. I thought it was just me. I've tried the advanced search as well. I'll be watching this thread for any tips.....

Sorry you think it's useless. It's not a mind reader, so you have to help it help you!

There are some things you can do to make searching more effective. Boolean operators, wildcards, etc. I get lots of results if I use "50 cal*" (without quotes) Check here for boolean search info.

Try using post search rather than thread search. The latter searches thread titles.

I also made just now two adjustments to the database which as soon as the update finishes will provide more results for searches with short words.

You can all help improve the searchability of our database by tagging threads. See the tags box at the bottom of every thread.

Finally, nearly every one of our posts is indexed by Google. We submit sitemaps every night and are crawled constantly. So, try "penturners.org 50 cal" in Google (again w/o quotes) and see what you get.

Cool!I went to Google and searched penturners.org 50 cal kit and it took me straight to Daniels post that I linked to above.Tried the same search on MSN's live search and got links but not to that thread. Also got some links I did'nt want!
