I have found a small Scarlet snake that I just hate to throw away. It is to small in diameter for pens, I believe. It is about 3/8" diameter and is about 16" long. Any ideas on what I could do with it?

If you're refering to a Scarlet King Snake, I hope that you didn't kill it just to make a pen out of its skin. Although they are not on the endangered list, they are really beautiful snakes and pretty rare.

I don't kill them, cars do

No, the snake was not killed by me. I found it on the road(roadkill). It is the Scarlet snake that Mark posted in his reply(thanks Mark). I feel there is no need to kill a snake just to make pens but if I find one on the road I will use it if I can.

You could always try to trim around the scales and overlap the pieces on the tube to make a blank or make a comfort or euro 7mm pen blank.

In Georgia, a Scarlet King Snake is man's second best friend. This snake will be "invisable" around your property, keep down rodents and actually keep posionous snakes away.

Besides that, they are beautiful to look at.

 Note to self.... No reason to go visiting Andy any time soon!!!

Ah, come on Dawn! And bring Ed with ya! There's enough "critters" here to keep Exotics in business for 10 years. Ever cast any armadillo? Banded Water Snake? or Alligator Garr?

You could corner the Copperhead market!:biggrin::biggrin:
