You can put anything in resin. Some work and some don't. I had a nice pile of wood shavings on my drill press that looked pretty good. Thought it might make a nice looking bottle stopper. Came out much darker, it's OK but not anything like it did on the table.

Well, obviously you need to hit the local Michael's craft store and pick up some luster powder from the stamp department. Oh, what's the brand name...

You can also try things like
  • coffee grounds
  • paint the tubes and wrap stickers around it
  • glue fabric to the tubes
  • tint it and throw dried peas in it
  • colored toothpicks
  • slice up some bamboo real thin, lay it in there
  • wrap a tube in a bunch of cigar bands
  • paint a tube and roll it in ants

But really, go get some luster powder. That alone is $24 from Michaels but find a 40% off coupon in the newspaper. That alone will make for some great looking blanks.

Whatever you do put in, remember you only end up with a very thin sliver of it next to the tube, so don't expect to put in something like a matchbox car and expect to see anything except maybe some tiny rubber skidmarks when you're done turning

Russell.

My silk flowers I was VERY pleased with.

Pom poms, pinecones, seeds, leaves, fabric, labels... go through the member photo albums or use the search engine with just about anything you can think of. If you can dream it up.... chances are it's do-able!!
