A while back I saw a product on a commercial during a DIY program. It was a device one puts on your water meter . According to the add the device removed the air from the water before it went into your house. This is supposed to lower your water bills. The add says that a lot of what you pay for is air going through the meter and the devise is totally legal. All it does is is remove the air before it goes through the meter. Anyway I cannot remember the the company and cannot seem to find it anywhere on the internet and was wondering if anyone knows where to find one of these.
Thanks Alice

Many of the tests in my laboratory require de-aired water. We routinely subject water to 29.6 in Hg to remove the air and it sure does boil vigorously for a few seconds. I have never needed to measure the reduction of water in the vessel, but it doesn't seem like much - maybe 2 to 3 percent if that much.
It is unlikely that a gadget on the water pipe will remove this much air, so the amount of volume reduction will be very small. Since the gadget will have to use electicity to remove much air, the electricity cost may be more than the water bill savings.
I am still awaiting the gadget to put on my car to reduce my gas consumption by 50 percent.

Thanks Jim,
I am not sure how this device works. I was sick the day I saw the commercial and figured I would see it again. If I ever track it down I'll let you know just for FYI. Thanks Alice

Sounds like a gimmick. Given any air removal so as not to be metered would necessarily have to been done prior to the meter which is in most cases belongs to the folks selling the water.

That's a good point. If that weren't the case, what would stop me from tapping the line prior to the meter and re-connecting the entire house from my (personal) tap.

The device has to be external to the piping. Just don't know how that would work. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything like that at all. Good Luck...:)
