I took my knot as a center band pen ( http://www.penturners.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28922 ) to work to show it off. I got lots of positive comments including the question " Did you draw the lines on ?" I also got two offers to buy the pen, but as it was the first of a kind and I am so proud of it I refused. Am I being too sentimental and has any one else done this sort of thing (refused a sale that is)?

The only pen I would never sell is the very first pen I turned, if you are going to keep every "first" pen, you will be tripping over them soon!

The only pen I've made that isn't for sale is the one I submitted to the PMG, everything else has a price. I would incinerate the first pen I made, if I could get it away from my wife. Although I am working on one right now that will be mine and not for sale, unless I could find another piece of wood like it and then I would sell that one instead.

I have sold several pens that I "intended" to keep for myself. I only have one that I will not sell and it's a closed end Jr Statesman done in chocolate mint lucite.

I've always said that everthing is for sale including my personal pen and at shows even the cash regester with the money in it is for sale at a profit[;)].

You couldn't buy my favorite pen from me if you offered me ....

How much did you say? Do you want that in a box or a pouch, or will you just be putting it in your pocket?

Ok I get the message, I took it back to work asked 'too much' for it, and my boss got his wallet out with no hesitation. Guess I will just have to make another one for my self (or any one else with the right money)[:)][:)]

Just as a foot note. I had a call from my boss asking me to take my pens back to work, he showed the one I sold him to his neighbour and now he wants to buy some [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Congratulaions David. Make some profit along the way. [:)]

Just arrived at work, to be greeted by the boss who hands me a cheque for 9 pens. His neighbor bought 7 and his wife bought 2. Its my biggest sale yet! [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

David: An awful lot of folks have posted about how sorry they are that they don't have the first pen they made or some other special pen. I would try to get that pen back from your boss and make him another one.

A few years down the road, the money you got for that pen won't mean a thing; but still having the pen just might.
