Same Pens, different names

I have been searching for a listing of pens that shows which pens from which supplier are the same.

I am about to start on the Wodturningz Classic FP & Roller ball and I wanted to know if it is the same as any other pen that I might have the bushings for.

Does anyone know where a list may be found?

"The same" is a problem.

Using "Classic" kits, as an example. That general pen style was produced for CSUSA, Rockler (before they were Rockler), Penn State - those are the ones I REMEMBER.

They all looked the same BUT some claimed to be 10mm, some 25/64. And, one run of tubes did not always fit another kind of components very well.

What I am saying is, "TO BE SAFE, buy the bushings that come with the kit you are purchasing." Penn State bushings may very well be the same size as someone else's, but they generally only cost $3 a set, make ten pens, that's 30 cents a pen.

IF THEY ARE BACKORDERED, measure the components, mount on the closest fit you can find in your bushing inventory, then measure repeatedly with you caliper - slower, but REALLY accurate!!

Yes it does. Thanks Ed, I'll go the calliper route. I wasn't aware there were such conflicts in sizing with the kits. I guess I could just always use the callipers.

Even when everyone was saying they had 7mm kits, I always marvelled that they were NOT the SAME 7mm. Penn State's kits would not fit on anyone else's mandrel, THEIR 7mm had a SLIGHTLY smaller ID than everyone else.

Finally, I realized I COULD sand down a mandrel or two to fit PSI. Of course, then it was sloppy with the OTHER kits.

Now, I buy a ton of mandrel rods, make them into what I need and LABEL it.

Still doesn't work, but I feel better and we all know everything is about how you FEEL these days!!!
