Sad news for scroll sawers

Just heard that Judy Gale Roberts has passed away. She was a Woodworker Hall of Famer due to her contribution in popularising Intarsia, of which she was a master.

Sad news. She was very talented. I always enjoyed making her patterns.

One of the all time greats in the scrollsawing world. Her work was just so amazing. It was painting with wood. I did meet her a couple times many years ago at a few scrollsaw picnics and got to see some of her pieces up close and it was truely amazing the way she can use many different woods and paint a picture so life like. The method she used to incorporate the grains of the woods as much as the colors and to be able to sand and shape the pieces to give uncanny depth. The tightness of the seams were right on the mark every time.

Then there was the human side of her that topped it all off. Wonderful human being. She was a great teacher of her art which she shared with everyone. She will be missed and her work will live on forever. truely one of the great talented artisans in the scrollsaw field. Rest in Peace Judy.
