sad day in Baxter County, Arkansas

You have all probably seen the story in the news about the guy who went into a gay bar in Massachusetts and killed some people with an axe then fled. Well, he ended up in my county here in Arkansas. Last night he killed a police officer in the town of Gassville, a very small town. Then there was a chase about twenty miles to an even smaller town, Norfork, where he crashed. There he got into a gun fight with the Sheriff's department. His girlfriend was killed and he was wounded and caught. He was taken to the emergency room in Springfield, Missouri for treatment. That is where my son works as an ER doctor. Small, and sometimes, sad world.

Yes. And as the story develops, it seems he shot the girl and she was a girl friend from back east. At least this part relieves a local deputy from the agony of thinking he killed an innocent.

From what the news said, he was shot twice in the head and doesnt look good for him. Not that it helps bring back the officer or the girl, but it would certainly be a little justice. Life pays you back eventually for mistreating others.

Bad guy died earlier today. Apparently, he shot his girlfriend. Another individual was also shot in the gunfight in Norfork. The Sheriff has not released the name of who, causing me, and others, to believe it was a deputy. Condition is unknown. I just came past the sheriff's office. It is jammed with TV satellite trucks. Not a usual sight for this area.
