One of the impediments to switching to a new kit of any sort is the need to buy new tooling.. Well, I just bought a few Ruth Niles bottlestoppers from a friend, and discovered a great surprise - they don't need a different mandrel than the one I had been using.
I took a blank that I had drilled out for a PSI stopper, threaded it onto the PSI mandrel (nouveau mandrel), and turned as normal...I then screwed it onto the Ruth Niles stopper, and it fit perfectly!
It's always nice when you dont' have to go out and buy new tools - so if you have been avoiding switching from PSI chrome stoppers to Ruth Niles Stainless Steel stoppers, this is one less thing to worry about...
One thing I didn't realize is how very small they are! They look better in the bottle, though, whereas teh PSI ones looked better outside the bottle (In my opinion)....but I think it's the 'in the bottle' look that counts more!
