I almost lost my Boxer last night. She went down with something called pancreatitis and it was a wild ride to the 24 hour emergence animal hospital.

I'm running on about 3 hours of sleep so I'm going to turn in, you can all talk about me behind my back now ;)

Just had our dog go through that. At least it was the vets best guess as to her problem. Started her on steroids and antibiotics and it was almost an immediate turnaround.

Scott,I'm also an animal lover so I hope everthing turns out.My kids are all grown but our little Corgi is our late life child.

We have a Boxer. She is a wonderful girl. Best of luck.

Now I hope your still asleep, I have things to talk about.[}:)][}:)]

My girlfriend's dog had that not too long ago. She was on medication for a bit, but now it's managed strictly by diet. No more table scraps. She's an opportunist, however, so when a scrap hits the floor, I have to pounce faster than her![B)]

Let's hope a fast recovery. Vets know so much more today.
Lost a purebred Samoyed years ago when Vets didn't know that Parvo could jump the species barrier.
I'm still tore up over that, as was the Vet.

I hope all goes well for her, Scott! We had Boxers when I was growing up and LOML & I raised them while we had kids at home. The kids grew up with three of them, and as far as I'm concerned, there is no better dog for kids and apparently our children agree. Two of them have Boxers of their own now. The only "bad" thing about Boxers (if you can call it bad) is that they are more susceptible to disease than other breeds. We had to put our 13 year old female down before we moved up here in 2001. She was a great dog and we still miss her.

Sorry I was not able to give an update this morning but I had about 2 minutes to look at the forum.

"Mocha Rose" Is beginning to show signs of improvement. The test for pancreatitis was positive so they know that the current course of action is correct. I had to transfer her last night from the animal hospital back to the emergency clinic at the advice of the Vet.
The doctor at the emergency clinic said she had a very comfortable and restful night. Unfortunately "mom & dad" did not. I had to drive the 30 miles this morning to pick her up and transfer her back to the animal hospital and she appeared much better. She was holding her head up and was more of her old self. We still have a way to go but at least she is still with us.

Thanks for the support, it is appreciated.

Another Update:

The vet at the animal hospital said that "Mocha" did not need the intensive care overnight so we left her at the animal hospital. I called this morning and the vet said she did very, very well overnight and she is beginning to eat. We'll know later on this afternoon if she is able to come home tonight or if she will come home tomorrow. I hope she comes home tonight as I miss my baby :(

Another update:

Sorry it's been so long, I thought we were going to lose her. She took a turn for the worse Wednesday and the vet thought we were dealing with a much more serious problem. Some X-rays suggested that she might have an intestinal blockage but thankfully it was a false alarm. It was a long and very stressful week but we now have her home and we're attempting to get back to "normal", whatever that is.

Thank you to everyone who gave me support and Especially to Dawn (PRPrincess) who has been a shoulder to cry on.

I am glad that Mocha is home and doing better! Now that she is back in familiar surroundings, hopefully her recouperation will continue to be quick, and she will be her old self again in no time.:D

..and Scott, thanks [:I][:I][:I]
But that is what friends are for.;):)

I'm glad you got your pup back Scott. We lost one right before xmas and it really put a damper on things, but we got a puppy Dec. 30th and the kids are happy again and so am I. I am really happy that your baby is okay. When she is ready, lets get them together and let them play if you want.
