Ron retired BEFORE he cut off fingers.

The way he was making his pens was frought with danger.

Of course, stained glass is MUCH safer!!! Breaking glass all day, you will NEVER get cut!!!

Ok, I gotta ask what way of making pens is frought with danger? I gotta give it a try.

Anything with the word frought in it I need to look into further :)

Been digging into the thesaurus again eh Mr.Brown?

Unfortunately you should have been digging in the Dictionary because I believe the word you are looking for is FRAUGHT!

I was offered his website but my current finances couldn't afford it. He did allow me the use of one of his pictures and for that I am grateful.

Now I don't care who you are....that right there's funny!:)

James, You have to know Ron to appreciate Ed's comment, or at least have watched a few of his videos where he demonstrated cutting segments for his pens on a cutoff "chop saw". In one video, I believe it was at a local SWAT demo, Ron is wearing what looks to be large welding type gloves. Some folks think wearing gloves like this around such tools is a disaster waiting to happen.

Ron's a heck of a pen maker and a very nice guy, this is in no way meant to disparage him or his techniques, just an explanation.

Ron and I met at the first "Midwest Pen Gathering".

Because of my known friendship with Eagle, I expected some hassles at that event - MAN, did I have a GREAT time!!!!!

Spent most of the day listening to Ron and his "choppy" stories.

Didn't know he had SHOWN those techniques on VIDEO?????

He was at an Atlanta bubbasville in Chris Higdon's place a couple of years back... he did a couple of demo on making his Day after pen blank.. He was using a hold down on the chop saw, but I did see his fingers awfully close to the spinning blade.

Now Ed, who could honestly hassle you!!! But if you happened to get in Billy's way when the poppers came off the grill, well, you were on your own!!!

Made my day when he showed up! Amazing guy and as Ed mentioned, Ron has his stories. I distinctly remember one conversation between Ron and Ed about a certain blank. Ron did a sketch on a piece of cardboard. I have that cardboard, somewhere LOL!!!!!!!

As said, Ron has turned his creativity towards stained glass but the last I spoke with him, his job was keeping him very busy. But don't count him out on pen turning though!!!

I've not met Ron personally, but I owe him a lot. He helped me out enormously on my website, moving it up the list on Google and such. I owe him a salt and pepper mill, but am so behind in getting my shop to a workable place I haven't done much of anything. I need to send him an email.

He really went out of his way to help me, and I'd love to thank him in person someday.

Dale
