Wife and I are heading to Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Sculpture tomorrow. On the way we'll stop at the Amana Colonies.Are there any recommendations on other things to stop and see in between? I've never been in that part of the States before. I am looking forward to this trip as I do not have to be in any particular place at any set time and can travel where and when I want for a week or so. And I will be driving. Thanks

Check out the Corn Palace in Mitchell, SD. We stopped there on our visit to Mt Rushmore in 2005. Very interesting. Who knows, you may be able to scrounge a couple of corn cobs for some pens.[}:)]
 
Wall Drug is a Must see. and there is sooooo much in and around Rapid City. Hot Springs for a good relaxing natural hot springs spa. Hwy 240 is the loop through the BadLands nice drive and it ends up in Wall. If you go north of Rapid City, Deadwood, Lead, and Sturgis old mining towns with lots of history. have a great trip. hope this helps.
