Why yes, SUNNY, Temperature 0 degrees (Fahrenheit - a new term for you??) Thats only a dozen or so below zero - Celcius.

Welcome to America!!! Hope customs didn't give you a huge hassle. Found your hotel??? The heat in your room works??? Check the shower, you can still get a different room if the shower stall is "yucckky".

You'll enjoy Lou and Eagle, wish we could be there!!

Steven, I hope you have a really great time while your here. Don't let those two penturners get you in too much trouble, LOL!!!

Now Lou, I thought that you said that you could turn a pen out of anything!!![}:)]:D

Skippy,

WELCOME TO THE U.S.!!!

I am sure that your stay here will be enjoyable!!

And oh,.... nice toe rings BTW. (Must be a Welsh thing).:D:D:D

Welcome to this side of the pond. If you make it to the south, be sure to ask for HOT tea. If you just ask for tea, it will come with ice cubes and loads of sugar, something folks from the UK seem to have a distaste for. Enjoy the visit.

I'm having a good time so far. :D The grub is pretty good and really cheap!!!!!! Went to the Red Lobster last night. Good service!!

Don't you guys WALK anywhere? There are no pavements and folks are driving monster V8 trucks to go less than a mile.[:0]

I must admit that the sound of a V8 really is like music though. I'd love one but would have to sell my house and family to run it on UK fuel prices.

There are guys from all over the world on this course. Couple from Mexico, Turkey, Brazil and Suadi Arabia.

Bruce, funny you should mention the tea:D My colleague from UK ask for tea and it came with ice blocks. LOL

We have been promised loads of snow maybe on Wednesday. Hopes it's clear on the weekend though.

Thanks for the welcome to your GREAT country.:D

Skippy, a big

WELCOME

Enjoy your vist and I know you will have a blast with Eagle & Lou.

Skiprat

Welcome to warm and sunny Pennsylvania.:D If you happen to be in the Philly area PM me the date you will be maybe we can grab some lunch/Dinner. I know a great Cheese Steak Place.

And you're in the North...head south a bit and you will be introduced to Sweet Tea...basically sugar with a little water and an introduction to a tea bag! You can "drink" it with a fork!

Lou, Eagle, see you next weekend

Wish I could be a fly on the wall. I'm sure there will be some terrific sharing and ideas being passed around.

Have a great time and welcome!

Can you make a feathered steel 5-sided pen from an aircraft bolt?;)
(yes, I'm jealous, and yes, between that group, they probably can!)

If it's the bird I'm thinking about, he is surely not little! :D And, Steven, the couch MAY be cleared off by the time you get here...then again, maybe not. [8D] And Jon, I'm here to take the pictures of whatever comes out of this meeting. I'll simple stand back and watch.

Road trip update. The rest of the gang of 'students' are heading off to various parts of USA for the weekend. Most are off to Niagra Falls, couple to Florida, but I think I'm going to the coolest place.[8D]

It will be nice to leave some of this snow behind. You can only take so much of a good thing. It was 11 F the other morning !!!!!(Minus 11.5 C in real money) I honestly can't remember a temperature like that before. [xx(]

Lou, I'll head east first thing in the morning. Allowing for some u-turns and pit stops, [:I]I think I should be in DC around 12 to 1pm.
Don't clean up too much!!!!! I'm not the bloody Queen you know!!!!:D

Dawn & Ed, does Lou have your phone number? Or If you are still near a pc, the send me an note and I'll give you a call. Please include the Int dialling code.

I'm sure this is going to be my highlight of my USA trip and I can't wait to meet you guys. :D

Have a great time. I have on no less of an authority than good ole Ed that Eagle is at this very moment peddling his bicycle in that direction.:D

You're definitely not the freakin' Queen. She'd have sent her front people to clean this mess up! [8D] As for Camilla's brother, Skiprat may be her foal. [8D]

Lou you had better make sure Steve uses the bathroom before he goes to sleep, and don`t give him anything to drink after 5pm. LOL;):D

Don't worry Mark, I always carry a spare pair of incontinance pants. Cheeky Sod[}:)]

It's the drinking BEFORE 5 PM that's the problem![}:)];)

Just heard from our pal Eagle. We are jealous and wish we could have been part of all the fun. Skippy it is good to have you in the US. Hope to meet you on the next trip.

Mike & Linda

I have just returned from my visit to DC.

I spent the last few hours driving and trying to get some words together in my mind that could convey my gratitude for the extreme generosity and genuine hospitality I recieved from Lou and Eagle.

Before I attempt that, I need to thank Dawn ( PR Princess ) for actually organising it. Without Dawn's input Eagle and I would probably STILL be wandering around in circles. Although, I did speak to Dawn and Ed briefly while at Lou's place, I really just had a mouthful of teeth[:I] It has been a VERY long time since that happened to me!!!
Do you remember when you where a kid and if you where lucky enough for the prettiest girl in class to talk to you, all you could do was garble your words? Just like that.[:I]

Thank you Dawn.[:X][:X]

If you have ever had the chance to meet either Lou or Eagle, then you will know what an incredible pair of really fine men they actually are. Eagle may even 'enjoy' the noteriety that surrounds him like a dark cloak, I don't know, I didn't ask. All I can say is that I have found a very good new friend. Yes, I did learn some of the smoke and mirrors magic. But as that was not any magic of my hands, you won't be getting any clues from me. ;)

Lou is amongst the very few people in this world that completely confounded me. Never have I met someone so laid back and 'Blues Cool' yet have an encyclopeadic knowledge of so many topics. Bob Dylan crossed with Stephen Hawkins? I really hope I get the privelage of meeting you again Lou.
You certainly went the extra mile and I will always be indebted by your generousity and kind hospitality.

I may add that I got the spare bedroom and bathroom, and Eagle got the couch!!!!!:D

I believe Eagle is currently flying south for the Spring and wish him Godspeed.

I hope you guys enjoyed it even a fraction as much as I did. Thanks.

The rat has returned to Nimh, the eagle is back on the side of his cliff and this old Bluesman is basking in the glory of a magnificent 26 hours in of friendship and pens. I have been blessed to meet a fair number of members on this site, but no more blessed than in meeting Steven and hosting he and Eagle this weekend. The pen education is invaluable, but the respect, admiration and friendship that permeated the hours has left wonderful memories to last a lifetime. Steven brought lovely gifts from the other side of the pond, which I will share in another post. I'm still blown away. Eagle also delivered gifts of his own. Those will take a little longer to display as he left some of the "fun" for me to finish! The only downside to the weekend is that it ended far too soon. I know I will make the effort to spend time with each of these guys again...and I know it will be just like going home. Thank you, my friends, for sharing a great time and for making me believe I have a place at the pen turning table.

So are you saying you think Lou and Eagle are pretty?

'Pretty' is not really the word I'd use, but I was tempted to stroke those silver feathers. :D Lou is another story, listen up ladies, now there is a seriously eligible bachelor!!!!!!

My visit to this fantastic country is now over and weather permitting I'll be on my way home in the morning.
Meeting Lou and Eagle was of course the highlight, but I've had a great time here in Greensburg PA too. I have been to many countries around the world, but never have I experienced such warm hospitality.
From the people in the factory to the staff at the local bar, all have shown a genuine friendliness that is not often found.

Hopefully, I'll get another chance to visit. In the beginning I did say to Lou that I wasn't 'big' on meeting loads of people, but now that I know that you guys don't bite, I would love to meet as many as possible.

Thanks guys

.......oh and a special message for Dawn.......
