When it rains it pours!
a couple of weeks ago my table saw died as some might remember. With the help of everyone I am waiting on the parts to fix it.
Anyway, Now it is my small band saw. With the knowledge from taking apart the table saw
I dug into the band saw motor. It is a frozen bearing or should I say a "welded" bearing. I tried to get it apart and no luck. I am just going to get another one. It has served me well. Eight years old and an off brand from Menards! I would say I got my $$$$$ worth!

Sounds like you wore your toys out and now it is time for new toys. This is how we guys justify the new tools to our wives.

My husband says just that! That I wear the tools out.
He can't complain too much. He is into computers! I couldn't say much when he wanted the flat screen either!

Can't get a bearing puller on it?

thanks for the advise Smitty. I already tried that and it bent the bearing puller!

Alice, your hubby should be glad that yo didn't ask to buy that $500+ anodised pots and pans. Plus, in my house wife rules not me. I am the YES MAM man, otherwise, you think I would have had my tools? You deserve it Mam, get you a nice table saw and the Band saw. If he say anything ask him to talk to us on line, we will give him encouragement to support you. Heck that flat screen cost quite a lot! You do it quick before one of the kids come up with a new expense for you. good luck with the new toys and post a pic too when you get them.

A new Baby!!!!!

This dec. the kids will be done with college!!!! It has been 9 years and it will be over soon!
I am really very lucky my husband is the one who picked out my Powermatic 3520!
He even paid for half of it!
His tastes are much more expensive than mine. I try to make things work and really use them until they wear out. But how do you wear out a joiner!? I did. /something got caught in it and when I put it back together I had an extra piece!?, so my husband got me a new one! He was afraid I would slice my hand off. Just a table model but nice anyway!
He is a really good guy! This Thursday it will be 32 years!

Here is a pic of my new baby band saw! I also have a 14" Jet with a riser for the big stuff!

Alice,

That looks like the same saw I bought earlier this (Lowe's). Nothing spectacular but very servicable for cutting blanks. And to think I had to pay for it myself:frown:
