I have been using my drill press as well as my lathe recently for pressing rings together while the glue sets .
Sometimes I need either one or the other of those tools for another purpose so I made a ring press that will work well for both scroll sawed rings for making that type of bowls bowls and segmented rings as used in segmentation. Now I have a choice of three different ways of doing this. Sometimes I will use only one or two and other times I will use all three . . drill press, lathe (as a press between headstock and tailstock) and this one I just made.
Put ideas together from both Carole Rothmans book and the scrollmania site to come up with this one.
The finished bowl made of rings shown in the press is only for demonstration purposes.
The space blocks under the wing nuts are drilled to be laid flat or standing on end depending on how many rings are going to be glued at once.
